Our Story
The year was 1980. Michael Dearing and Erin Gillen were 4th grade classmates at the Henry B. Burkland school here in Middleboro. They became the best of friends for the next dozen years. Sometime in the early 1990's the became more than friends. They were married here in Middleboro in 1998 and now have three wonderful children that all work in the family business.
The Dearing and Gillen families have both been very proud and active in the town of Middleboro for many decades. Michael and his family have been life-long restauranters. In 2019, Michael and Erin had the opportunity to "come home again" and purchased the legendary Fireside Grille. The Dearing family has made a commitment to support our community, our staff and our guests. We have made significant investments in preserving this historic building. We have a "scratch" kitchen. In other words, we make just about everything right here, on site. Whether you are joining us for lunch, brunch or dinner, we are happy to prepare an item just the way that you want it. Our family is eager to be of service to your family.
The Fireside also has limitless capabilities for group and event dining. Our property boasts 6 different indoor and outdoor settings for your special event. The Fireside Grille also offers mobile catering. The Fireside has catered hundreds of backyard events and cranberry bog weddings. We have even been the "Official Caterer" of the world-famous Head of the Charles Regatta, where we supply meals for tens of thousands of guests.
